British and French Defense Ministers express confidence in progress on Strait of Hormuz

British Defense Minister John Healey and French Defense Minister Catherine Vautrin expressed confidence that real progress can be achieved on the critical issue of the Strait of Hormuz, as the two countries host a meeting with military planners on the matter.

In a joint statement issued by the British Ministry of Defence, they said: “Turning diplomatic momentum into action requires careful planning, frank discussions, and strong commitments from allied and partner countries.”

The statement added that Iran has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz since the United States and Israel launched a war against it in February.

It further noted: “We are grateful to the countries that have already shown willingness to contribute. We are confident that real progress can be made.”
