Hezbollah MP to Reuters: Iranian and regional efforts may lead to imminent ceasefire in Lebanon

Senior Hezbollah MP Ibrahim Moussawi told Reuters on Wednesday that diplomatic efforts by Iran and other Middle Eastern countries could lead to a ceasefire in Lebanon soon, noting that Tehran is using the Strait of Hormuz blockade as leverage.

Moussawi said the Iranians are exerting strong pressure on the Americans and have set conditions that the U.S. must include Lebanon in any ceasefire agreement, warning that otherwise they will continue the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. He described this as an economic leverage tool.

He added that Iran has opened communication channels with several regional and international parties to achieve this goal.

Moussawi declined to comment on whether Hezbollah would adhere to such a ceasefire.
