France’s Macron: No stability in Lebanon without Israeli withdrawal, Hezbollah disarmament

French President Emmanuel Macron said there can be no stability in Lebanon without an Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory and the disarmament of Hezbollah, while pledging continued French support for negotiations and reconstruction.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, Macron said stability in Lebanon depends on preserving the country and its resilience, adding that France would contribute to rebuilding areas affected by the conflict.

He stressed that France would “always stand” by Lebanon in the coming phases and would assist Lebanese authorities in preparing for negotiations with Israel.

Macron added that France’s presence at the negotiating table is secondary, emphasizing that Lebanon’s interest requires broad international support for the talks.
