Aoun outlines Lebanon’s negotiation framework, says priority is ceasefire and Israeli withdrawal

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said the framework set by Lebanon for the ongoing negotiations centers on an Israeli withdrawal, a ceasefire, the deployment of the Lebanese army along the border, the return of displaced residents, and economic and financial assistance for Lebanon, stressing that “any discussion beyond these points is inaccurate.”

Aoun said it was his duty, based on his position and responsibility, to do “the impossible and whatever costs less” in order to keep war away from Lebanon and its people.

“We have experienced wars and seen where they led Lebanon. Can anyone still bear their cost?” Aoun said.

Aoun also stated that he would continue efforts with Saudi Arabia to reopen markets to Lebanese products and provide support for farmers within Lebanon to help them continue amid the country’s challenging conditions.
