Syrian President says Lebanon war affects Damascus, welcomes efforts to end fighting

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa said that Damascus is directly affected by the ongoing war in neighboring Lebanon, adding that Syria values efforts aimed at stopping the war.

He praised what he described as U.S. President Donald Trump's role in helping to end the fighting, according to remarks to Al Jazeera.

Al-Sharaa expressed hope for a transition toward "reforming pathways" and preventing the recurrence of similar wars in the future, emphasizing the need for stability in the wider region.
