Germany says Trump's Ukraine remarks boost hopes of pressuring Russia

Germany said Wednesday that U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks that Ukraine could win back all its territory from Russia had fuelled hopes of further increasing pressure on Moscow.

Trump's comments align with Berlin's goal "to keep up the pressure on the aggressor Russia and to increasingly isolate Russia," said government spokesman Stefan Kornelius. 

"These statements give us reason to hope that we can now discuss this issue more intensively and maintain the necessary pressure on Russia."
