Hurricane Isaias now cat 3, en route to US Gulf Coast

Hurricane Isaias has strengthened into a major category 3 storm as it barrels towards the U.S. Gulf Coast, the National Hurricane Center said, with landfall expected in Florida, Alabama, or Mississippi in the next 24 hours.

"Isaias has strengthened to a major hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 120 mph (195 km/h) with higher gusts," the National Hurricane Center said in an update.
